Topos: That’s What She Said (2015)

Lecture given in a swimming pool at Chinatown YMCA pool, San Francisco. Part of performance series Heavy Breathing, curated by Sophia Wang and Lisa Rybovich Cralle.

“There can be no knowledge without a community of researchers, nor any inner experience without a community of those who live it… Collective swimming with immersive audio. Bring bathing suit or immersible outfit (no cotton please); goggles + nose clips if desired; water bottle recommended. Towels and flotation devices will be provided.”

A submersible speaker was dropped into the pool so the lecture, including found audio and music, was audible to swimmers both above water through the wall mounted sound system, and under the water.
