2 Bad Mouse performance (2022)
A collaboration with Tiffany Pui Chow at After Hours Gallery.
The installation consisted of wall paintings made with black paint on black painted walls. The paintings were expanded, deconstructed, disfigured, sexualized and iterated versions of Mickey Mouse iconography. Images here.
Throughout the opening reception the two hosts of the gallery, Kim Garcia and Amy MacKay, dressed in Mickey Mouse costumes, sporadically read excerpts from the essay “Social Class in Postmodernity: Simulacrum of return of the real” by Dean MacConnell and Juliet Flower MacCannell. (Scroll down for text.)
They read in unison, using a “Mickey Mouse” voice. Eight passages from the essay had been selected by the artists, one for each of Mickey’s fingers.
