2 Bad Mouse (2022)
Collaboration with Tiffany Pui Chow at After Hours Gallery.
The installation consisted of wall paintings made with black paint on black painted walls. The paintings were expanded, deconstructed, iterated, disfigured, sexualized and scatalogical versions of the icon of Mickey Mouse.
Throughout the opening reception the two hosts of the gallery, Kim Garcia and Amy MacKay, dressed in Mickey Mouse costumes, sporadically read excerpts from the essay “Social Class in Postmodernity: Simulacrum of return of the real” by Dean MacConnell and Juliet Flower MacCannell”. They read in unison, using a “Mickey Mouse” voice. Eight passages from the essay had been selected by Chow and Mole, one for each of Mickey’s fingers.
